19th century hand-painted binding. 10”x13”x1-3/4”. Multi-colored inks on ¼” thick brown calf panels, ribbed spine, all edges gilt. No indicia, but from the watermark on the endpapers probably German or Austrian. Vintage unknown, but a penciled notation inside states probably 19th century -- the blank pages appear to be of such vintage paper. Further embelllished with gilt blind-stamp figures and borders; brass studs. Interior consists of several hundred blank pages with first 20 or so clipped out -- possibly used as a ledger or journal.
