1st us edition. George H. Doran, 1925. [With GHD logo below the copyright date.] Red cloth, black lettering. 446 pp. Published in the UK in 1924, Pimpernel and Rosemary is set after the First World War and features Peter Blakeney, a descendant of the Scarlet Pimpernel. The action is mainly set amongst the disaffected Hungarian nobility in Transylvania. Although there are several copies on ABE under the Harper’s imprint that claim to be first American editions, those are later reprints that simply carry the original copyright date. Doran was Orszy’s U.S. publisher. Very good, in fair dust jacket. A clean, tight and square copy overall. No rubbing or stains; a few small “pinholes’ in the exterior gutters along the spine. Dustjacket has several closed and open tears, the largest being a ½” by 2” piece cut or torn from upper back; numerous smaller nicks along edges.
