4th ed, first published in 1919. 8vo, softcover, illustrated paper wrappers. 305 pp. An annotated catalogue of 327 paintings and 78 pastels, with a supplement of 18 additional pieces. Includes a brief bibliography. Good: Lightly shaken but fully intact with clean and bright pages. Covers lightly toned with chips at top of spine and lower 4” of front cover partially detached. Ex-libris the Stendahl Art Gallery, Los Angeles. This volume was a well-used reference copy in the gallery’s reference library, hence the rough condition. Until its recent closure, the Stendahl Gallery was one of America's oldest continuously operating private art galleries. Art from the Stendahl collections found a home in The Louvre and many other major institutions throughout the world. Upon closing the gallery, the family donated a significant collection of photographs and documentation to the Getty Research Institute.
