Folio, 400 pp. 350 b&w photographs, including several folded plates; with 23 pp. text pamphlet in rear pocket. Limited edition of 300 signed and numbered copies. The book was originally accompanied by a gelatin silver print of the cover photograph. This copy is lacking the cover photograph and is accompanied instead by another of Salgado’s photographs from the same period -- “Worker’s Feet, Brazil, 1983”, gelatin silver print, 6-7/8x10-3/8 inches, with Salgado's embossed blind stamp on recto, and with his signature, partial title, and date, in pencil, on verso. A copy of this photograph is in the SFMOMA collection of modern photography and was published in a companion volume Terra: The Struggle of the Landless, p. 59. A fine, as new copy in the illustrated dust jacket and cloth slipcase.
