Two 8vo volumes. pp. , xii, 324; xii, 308; 2 folding maps The third edition with improvements. [First published 1757.] Speckled calf, gilt borders and titles, five raised bands on spine. Joints and hinges cracked; edge and corner wear, latter rubbed and bumped; moderate surface wear overall; original titles between top two bands have been replaced with paper labels, cracked. Pastedowns and end paper age-toned; overall text block is clean and tight. Binding, though contemporaneous, does not appear to be original. The author(s) are uncertain, but generally believed to have been William and Richard Burke (cousin and brother of Edmund Burke to whom the work is sometimes attributed.) Folding maps in each volume by Emanuel Bowen are general maps of North and South America.
