Just So Stories for Little Children, illustrated by the author, Kipling, Rudyard
1 Kipling, RudyardJust So Stories for Little Children, illustrated by the author
London: MacMillan & Co, 1902. 1st ed., Kipling,Rudyard. Royal 8vo, red cloth pictorial stamped and lettered in black and white. 1st issue, with the white pigment notoriously prone to flaking that was replaced in later printings and the second blank leaf preceding the half-title. The only Kipling work that he illustrated himself. Very good; a clean tight copy but with the white pigment faded out as usual; some spotty blemishes to the red background as well -- not noticeable when viewed directly, but can be seen when angled to light. Very light wear to corners and top/bottom of spine. No d/w. [Livingston 267].
