Wayland 1791. 1st ed., 12mo, 302 pp. A scarce volume “Containing very curious narratives of the appearances of many departed spirits on particular occasions, to friends, relations. &c. being an impartial survey of the most remarkable accounts of apparitions, dreams, ghosts, spectres, and visions. That have been recorded in several ages of the world; together with some originals. To which is prefixed, an introduction, by the editor.” The anecdotes vary from a page or two to several dozen pages or more. Brown boards, ¼ calf spine. Rear hinge is partially split but fully intact; Text block is clean and tight with only occasional mild foxing..

Florence: Nella Stamperia di Giorgio Marescotti, 1579-1580. [The colophon is dated Florence, 1579, but the dedication to Francesco de Medici, is dated April 15, 1580.] 8vo, 1/2 vellum and purple boards, inked title on spine. Buoninsegni was a Florentine patrician, merchant and historian. Politically he held some of the city's most important offices and was a member of the broader circle of the early Medici regime. He spent the last ten years of his life completing this Historia Florentine; he died in Florence in March of 1466. The history existed in manuscript form until this publication in 9 volumes between 1579-1637. The first seven books were published by G. Marescotti in Florence in 1580 and the last two by GB Landini in Florence in 1637. This volume consists of the first four books, bound as one volume. Good. Several inked signatures and notations inside front cover, end papers. Small bookplate inside front cover. The original title page is missing and is replaced by a handwritten, inked annotation dated Torino, 1861. Interior is clean, tight, and bright with no foxing at all..

Vol 1 is lightly cocked to right with 1" tear to FEP and inked name on front flyleaf. Half-title and advts in Vol 2 lightly foxed, otherwise text blocks of both vols are clean and tight with little to no foxing..

NY: Viking Press, 1935. 3rd printing (1935) but warmly inscribed by author Edward Marks to Hollywood writer/producer Jerry Wald on the birth of Wald's son. Walk wrote and produced several classic films, including the musical Stars Over Broadway and the Bogart classics Dark Passage and Key Largo. The inscription is on the front free endpaper and is dated 1942. The book itself is in fine condition except for some yellowing on the front and rear-paste-downs where the dust wrapper flaps rested against the book. The dust jacket is present but is yellowed at the back and has about a dozen chips and tears along the edges..

The book is in good condition: some age-toning and very light foxing on end-papers with very minor shelf-wear to covers. Interior pages are yellowed at edges, but not brittle. (As usual for the cheap wartime pulp paper.) No chips or tears. The dust jacket is in generally good shape with a 1/2"x3/4" chip at top of spine, a 1/4"x1/2" open tear on middle of front cover and numerous small nicks and shelf-wear along edges. Nevertheless an attractive copy of Kennedy's first book..
