Paris: J. Rothschild, 1870. Quarter-leather. Good. No Jacket as Issued.. Illustrated. Signed by Illustrator. Fifth edition, i.e. the deluxe édition with extra etchings by Claude Manet and others. The first publication of the famous Manet etching ''Le Chat et les Fleurs''(opposite page 41). There is another Manet illustration opposite page 258. A nice copy of arguably the greatest of all cat books. Additional text vignettes by Manet, Delacroix, Grandville, and others. Five etchings in total. The frontispiece is a chromolithograph by Champfleury. Two plates (one of which is double-page) are hand coloured. Contemporary full brown leather with raised bands and gilt decoration to spine, t.e.g. Spine and edges rubbed, with a small contemporary adhesive lable at bottom. Owner's bookplate..
