London:: J. S. Hodson., 1857.. First Edition., Cloth.. Good. . No Jacket.. Dark green cloth, blocked and lettered in gold. Signature of previous owner in ink on front paste-down. Baker, the author of many books on civil engineering, wrote this poem as a history of and a tribute to steam power. He included some 54 pages of additional annotations to his poem, from discussion of brittle cast-iron rails to the etymology of the word 'navvies'. T(homas) Baker died 1871 .
